What Happened

Well butter my biscuits, a white sedan came flying down State Road 408 like it was chasing the sunset itself. Troopers caught it at a whopping 134 miles per hour — that’s more than double the limit, sweetie. At that speed, the road doesn’t look much like a highway anymore. It looks like a blur with streetlights.

The driver didn’t get far before those blue lights twinkled in the rearview. Thanks to Florida’s brand-new “Super Speeder” law, this little joyride ended in handcuffs instead of a happy homecoming.

Why It Matters

Florida passed the “Super Speeder” law in July to keep the fastest of the fast from turning our roads into racetracks. It’s not just a slap on the wrist either — there are big fines, license suspensions, and even jail time for folks who go 50 mph or more over the limit. This case shows the Sunshine State isn’t wasting any time putting the law to use.

Nana’s Note:

"Sweetpeas, when your speedometer climbs higher than the Florida sun in July, you’re bound to get burned. Better to arrive a little late than never arrive at all."

Where on earth were they going?

  • Late for a date

  • Racing the sunrise

  • Late for everything
